I switched off all the hype again for a let down. It's 2012 why do we still have actors act like they came out of a Shakespeare play, nobody ever acted like that in reality so why portray it on screen ?

It's full of cliches and obvious lines and I can't believe it - they just had the bloody string quartet (though I suppose - how could they avoid it? But why bother at all?).

Future Sundays 9pm it's back to Homeland (instead of 4+1 tonight) - it's way better.

I don't see the point in these Titanic dramas, especially as they invent new characters but still stick to the same old rigid storyline. 'Who's going to be drowning in close-up this time?' 'I quite like the name of Christabel Soames'. 'Very good. And the doomed love interest? 'Ooh, I think Pierre Noyade, a handsome but asthmatic photographer from Nice'. 'Let's make it!' It would be better to write a drama about the aftermath of the tragedy, and how the British media moved quickly to transform a tragedy into a celebration of 'Britishness'. They invented stories, they wrote songs, they embellished details so that 'Be British, boys, be British' became the dominant heroic theme. Much more interesting to explore than yet another slow and sickly 'sail and sinking' saga.

a thoroughly annoying movie and I was so pleased Leo slipped below the surface. Working class trash.

But that silly old bird who threw the diamond necklace in the sea !!!

someone should have throttled the dimented cow.

nice special effects though.

it's not accurate at all Americans need to avoid English accents. The ship sank due to arrogance of the crew end off story, why not do films about the Lusitania or SS Cap Arcona they have explosive effects but then again I wonder how much CGI will be used ?

I think that's part of this 1952 series, isn't it, Pru? Nostalgia rools. I'm rather enjoyimg the shows - Marty Wilde and the Beverlys were on this morning.

I don't think so JK - it's down as a three-part series starting this Friday on BBC1 at 8.30. Seems a bit odd. I agree about the 1952 series - quite engaging.

Okay the Titanic sank 100 years ago hundreds of lives lost, it struck an Iceberg, they thought it was unsinkable blah blah blah. It's getting boring even Channel 5 did a program last night and did Nazi Titanic, if you want to watch a Titanic movie in 34 mins then here it is.

Answer revealed Pru; Len was a welder at the Titanic ship builders!

Clever idea for a connection and quite a good show.

I;ve always been fascinated by the Titanic but it's warn thin lately.

The best book I read was how the Titanic didn''t actually sink until during WW2.

Apparently, Pru, he was a fitter (or something like that) at Harland and Wolff shipyard.

Tenuous enough for you ??
