This country needs a credible opposition....and Labour has excelled itself this time! just when you thought Foot and Kinnock were bad!!

I thought Michael Foot and Neil Kinnock were excellent leaders but the media didn't which is what matters now.

Miliband seems a decent and intelligent leader and compared to the others, with one bizarrely telling people to fill up jerry cans of petrol, he's probably far more sensible as well.

People should be more concerned about politician's policies rather than fall for the personality game that now shapes political life.

I was involved in politics in the 80s,and while Foot was a great politician he hadn't got a clue how to inspire a political party as a leader.
Kinnock had it on a plate, and lost it through arrogance in '92.
Blair for all his faults united the party,Brown went on to break it up.Being a leader takes a lot more than being 'likeable',as both Clegg and Cameron are finding out.

Thanks for the advice. Most fascinating and not at all patronising, but I fear you have a somewhat sketchy sense of Miliband's 'sensible' and 'intelligent' performances. He's very rapidly settled into the familiar rut of lazy platitudes, depressingly opportunistic u-turns and shamelessly hypocritical speeches. I doubt that those colleagues of his are plotting so hard to replace him because they lack your antipodean perspicacity and cool-headed Aristotelean prudence. They're doing so because they know, up close, that he's weak, ideologically insipid and almost certainly unelectable.

yes of all that may be correct, or may not be.

although I doubt he is 'unelectable' and has certainly been elected already to high office but what you say again demonstrates that politicians or anyone seeking power must now court the patronage of the media. And despite my superb analysis which you agree with and such high praise ! (thank you) I've never know a time when polticians weren't plotting against each other. Perhaps you did.

We live in a wondrous age when people can prattle on about people's personalities when they haven't got a fucking clue about them because they rely on the perceptions of some cunt on a newspaper or at the BBC and so on.

I do love it when you are angry.

I think you mean Bought, not Brought.

Bought is the past tense of 'buy'

Brought is the past tense of 'bring'

It's not hard.

The sun is now turning against the coalition and the tories, after it's ridiculous encouraging of panic buying and the ill-fated "pasty" tax. Remember it was the "Sun wot won it" in 1997.
