Sad reflection of these (heathen) times .... 12 Years, 1 Month ago
In this .... Holy Week .... I cannot find a single TV programme that relates the Easter story.

Without the Easter story there would be no Easter.

I'm not entirely sure what you are complaining about. Those to whom Easter
is relevant {ie Christians} are completely familiar with the "story" already,
and are surely capable of quiet reflection on whatever sense of personal
deliverance and salvation they take from it. The many others - the Hindus,
Jews, Muslims, atheists and Wikkans and those who claim to be Christians {but
are actually lying to themselves and everyone else} to name but a few - would
probably rather be watching something other than someone else's spiritual
indulgences.
So what's the problem? Are you making the point that the UK's Terrestrial,
Cable and Satellite broadcasters feature too little religious programming?
Or simply complaining that something that means a lot to some people and
nothing to many others isn't being presented as part of the week's round of
entertainment?
May I suggest that if you wish to hear bible stories a church is your best bet.

And may I suggest that those who do not want religion actually go to work when there is a religious holiday ????

As usual ... want their cake AND eat it !!!

Ah, so it was nothing to do with Easter after all. Just another excuse to throw some sh*t in the general direction of anyone who fails to live life the way you think they should. By the way I just finished a 12 hour shift of manual labour. For free. So at least I'm one atheist who has done something you should approve of.
Have a nice weekend.

Well, we're not really. We call this a Christian country when it suits us and we have an established church. Apart from that there is little to support your contention. Certainly, the churches are mostly empty nearly all of the time. And the almost complete absence of consumer led demand for more Christianity on TV - which appears to be the spur for ITK's posting - would appear to confirm my view rather than yours or {it would seem} his.

No reason at all why not. I wouldn't be at all bothered if there were. But this thread isn't about whether or not there should be. It's {allegedly} about the fact that there aren't. Which isn't quite the same thing.

I wouldn't be complaining. I wouldn't be watching them either.

No churches are not nearly empty. I moaning about Jesus yes we all know the story but it's a very important story to Christians. But to you Atheists you just like seem to moan about him.

Not looking good for attendances tomorrow in this "Christian" country, apparently.

Where have I "moaned" about him? I'm moaning about people like you who claim to be Christians but behave in a way your saviour would be ashamed of.

I'm just pointing out that we are in the middle of a religious holiday .... but some people want the holiday without the religion !!!

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-17611036

I feel the Archbishop is right ... its time to assert our own standards in our own Country.

For far too long we have "hidden" our traditions / beliefs / customs for fear of upsetting others.

Sod them. I respect their customs etc - so they should tolerate mine (esp in MY country !)

I also have to apologise ... having derided the lack of religious programming (at a religious time) I discover their was a "live" Passion from Preston. Haven't see it yet, so can't comment.

Call to scrap Bank Holidays

"If public holidays were scrapped it would add £19bn to Britain's annual economic output, a think tank says.

The Centre for Economics and Business Research says each bank holiday costs the UK economy £2.3bn".

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17654781

Here, Here !

WHY should someone who doesn't believe in Christianity have a Christian holiday (Easter / Christmas) ??
