No we don't. 12 Years, 1 Month ago
www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2897/championshi...olympic-stadium-move

Only the board want it, who wants to a watch game with a running track, seats miles away from a pitch in a half filled stadium ? Upton Park hardly gets sold out since we were relegated or even when were in the Premier League!

Maybe ITK might know what to do with another white elephant ?

Well, I do.

The Olympic Stadium track will be covered by moveable seats - just like at Stade de France in Paris (where rugby, soccer, athletic and entertainment events are held).

WHU's very wealthy owners (Sullivan and Gold) have shown that they put their money where their mouths are - and promotion is highly probable this year.

Upton Park is dated and unsuitable for the Premier League and, hopefully, European competition in the coming seasons.

Do you actually think that WHU should just stay put and do nothing - and ignore this unique chance to progress?

Manchester City fans are very happy with their fine stadium which is similar to WHU's proposed new venue - in terms of its previous role etc.

It's suitable for a team like West Ham, European football for WHU ? Don't make me laugh we always fail. We don't always fill Upton Park then how can we will the the Olympic Stadium ? They wealthy owners but will never clear the huge debt caused the Icelandic Banks.

we always fail

No, andrew.

Risks make the future.

And don't avoid the points already made (track and all).

Please.

Nothing is worse than be away from the pitch, and a game with no crowd atmosphere. Bollocks if you think Upton Park is not suitable for the Premier League nothing wrong with it at all.

Risks make the future not always mate they can cripple the future. Here's a point Barry WHU in Premier League, and in first round of the FA Cup playing against a team like Forest Green Rovers FC at the Olympic Stadium, it be quiet as a grave.

Bayern Mucich had a running track it was bad for them it was a disaster.

Barry clearly your not a football fan.

Andrew, first you say that the track area will not have seats (which it will) and then you say they will be empty (which they may). Bear in mind that Gold and Sullivan - worth c£2B - are no fools and, as said before, are putting their money into the club; they will require a return and are not investing for the love of football; they are shrewd businessmen.

Great win last evening.

It would be perverse not to move to a new modern stadium and to continue to live in the past. If there are a few empty seats for a few seasons - so what? Sam is on the right track to bring The Hammers up the table and back into Europe.

With your negative attitute, Columbus would not have found America...

No one has said anything about seats on the track area yet.

Have you ever been to Upton Park Gerry ? When it's full it's great but going to pay good money for sideline ticket that be miles away from the pitch ?

Spurs had a good idea but got their application disqualified to remove the track and a number of seats.

If WHU should move to a 'modern' stadium they should relocate to a much suitable ground or have one built in the right area of London.

Green Street is our home and should be always.

I have a share in a box - two boxes down from Ray Winston.

Ray, like me shares the view that the Olympic idea is the right move.

Just typing about London Premiership clubs - the Arsenal move was a great sucess, Spurs are trying to follow - and Chelsea are looking at the White City site, the Earls Court arena and the BBC west London studios.

We should just stay put at the Park? Until when, do you think?

WHEN, we have an (one and only) chance of a lifetime - with rich owners/investors, and a magnificent new stadium on offer.

Move on m8 or be left behind!

Arsenal Emirates is designed for football, Olympic Stadium is not whose going to sit behind a running track it was a problem Brighton & Hove had. If we should move then lets move to a stadium designed for football not for other events.

I think andrew is right. WHU are a club with tradition and Upton Park is an integral part of it. The club would not be the same without the place, and its history, As andrew says...our home 'always'.

Yes, I am being sarcastic.

Gilbert & Sullivan are there to make money - and are prepared to invest. About £100 million so far!

But, not in Upton Park; only in Stratford.

If they go...more chaps from Iceland?

Talking about looking a gift horse in the mouth?

They could build a bigger stadium still be close to Green Street. There is a great pub near the ground once we move what Stratford will happen to that ?
