I am a bit in shock. This morning I was idly clicking around news sites as I do on a Saturday morning, in a kind of distracted way, often not paying that much attention to where I was clicking.

I got a bit of a shock when a video started to play and I realised I was watching the actual video of what that Canadian porn actor did to his lover, i.e. the very one he filmed of himself doing it. I won't go into details, you'll have read the story. I wanted to click away but was frozen in front of the screen and saw too much, before I came to and shut the page.

Now I just feel sick. I am also in shock at how with a few unwitting clicks on a mouse I was able to stumble across something like that.

I seriously can't believe what I saw. It seems the police are trying to have the video taken down, but the owner of the website where it's posted is defending it using some 'public interest' defence rubbish. I hope they take it down immediately. It is police evidence and has no business in the public domain.

I feel sick.

Saw this story in the Daily Mail. Not only did they describe what the guy did, but they gave the 'title' of the video so that readers can Google it and download it.

This is a muderer who is still on the loose and who gets turned on at the thought that sick freaks on the internet are watching him murder people.

I guess the 'supply and demand' argument applies to perverts who look at pictures of little 17 year old children in bikinis, but not to watching videos of men getting off on recording themselves horrifically murdering other men. At least according to the Daily Mail. And the law.

Apparently the Canadian police told a couple of websites to take the video down, which they did, but a hundred other sites have already posted it online. And they're not doing anything illegal. Not only is it legal to watch people being murdered online, it's also legal to post such videos on your website and earn advertising money as a result of the millions of people watching it (many of them sent by the good ole Daily Mail).

I fail to see how you can just stumble into a video clip like the one you watched David. Its taken me 15 mins of searching to come up with a torrent download and even then its not straight forward. I think you've watched the video and have an overwhelming sense of guilt.

Then you're wrong Angel. When I news surf I click on lots of links and start watching something while the other windows are opening. I heard music coming from one of the windows that had opened, wondered what it was and then saw what I saw.

It was not a download, nothing about torrents. It was a direct link to the video which was on someone's website. As far as I know, the video is no longer online.

I'd like to forget this now.

Sounds like you were getting off on it. Why didn't you just close the window down?

I did close the window. However, I couldn't tell what I was watching at first, it looked odd and pretty bizarre, but at first no one was dead or even injured, it just looked like a fetish video set to New Order(not my kind of thing but hey). There was a moment when it became abundantly clear what it was I was watching. For a few seconds I felt almost paralysed but then quickly closed the window and didn't watch any more.

It's still a shock tho. There are some things you can't 'un-see'.

I've checked my browsing history and it was not the site shown in the Daily Mail, which had a name that would in no way have appealed to me.

I'm interested what website you inadvertently clicked the link on. Why would any "normal" site have this link? Its not as easy as you're making out David.
