Cost of Jubilee - at least £1 BILLION - acc to BBC Breakfast 11 Years, 11 Months ago
They reckon that the cost of the Jubilee (loss to economy etc) minus any gains will be at least 1 Billion pounds.

As they point out - there is no "tourism boost" as any money spend by people going to London to see events would have been spent anyway (as its a Bank Holiday) in other places.

One just wonders how much longterm damage to tourism (from abroad) has been done by flashing pictures of a dank dreary wet London (filled with sad old people in deckchairs) has done !!!

Spot on ITK, my idea is this they should use the money to build a bridge from Sheerness to Tilbury they create tourism.

TV level figures are just coming in.

Jubilee celebrations are expected to hit world records levels.

Much more than the World Cup and previous Olympics put together.

The 'sad people' gave a glimpse of the UK's enthusiasm for what matters - and are a great indication of how Olympics 2012 will pan out.

And, it was no surprise (to anyone) that it rains in London...

What do you make of this, andrew -

Ministers are being urged to look into reports that unemployed people hired as unpaid stewards for the Diamond Jubilee ended up having to sleep outside.

Volunteers from the government's work programme spent part of the night under London Bridge before Sunday's Thames pageant, the Guardian said.

Far far from it !!!

10.3 million watched Betty on her Boat on Sunday ... a bit less than usually watched Heartbeat at its peak.

I agree that unemployed people should do some volunteering by choice and with the right training provided. Why would anyone in their right mind what to be a steward for the Queen, we need stewards for the football ?

2012 will be remembered for the wrong reasons, Olympics tickets issues is a shambles people should get tickets for the events they want to see, if there is zero people at a event then it show it's time to introduce other sports the games. I love to see geriatrics do Shuffle Board imagine them mouthing swearing it be epic. ITV please show Sumo Wrestling Championships again it was fun to watch on Saturdays afternoons.

The BBC is THE channel for such events !

And as for live in 177 countries ... I doubt that very much LOL ! Maybe a slot on the news, but why should any other country bore their subjects with 5 hours of dull (sorry about the pun!) coverage of a non-event ????

You are falling for The King's New Clothes !

My local paper says that the whole county has been celebrating (but seems unable to actually produce more than a couple of examples !!!). I personally, have NEVER EVER seen a street party (and I doubt that many have).
