London bus drivers are on strike today - demanding extra money, just for doing their jobs !!

Over the years, many millions have done this in numerous areas of business and services - withdrawing labour to achieve better terms and conditions.

Is it not correct that we have this right, or would you prefer strikes to be illegal?

I am mighty glad that the suffragettes did not agree with you...

Quite rightly, UK goverments have given us the right to withdraw labour/strike - unlike many other countries.

It is a corner-stone of democracy.

Oh, how easy it is to manipulate the great unthinking classes !
The commie Union bosses have it SO easy.

Yes, workers have a right to strike ... when do we get the right to sack them if they don't want the job ?

The right to strike is paramount and often changes history for the better; there are numerous examples.

Here's just one. In Gdansk, Lech Walesa led a strike in 1980 which brought down the Iron Curtain.

Did he - and his followers - hold Poland, Russia or the World to ransom?

Or just do what was right....

Not always,I visit Poland often, and know it's history well. The useless communist plants he was voted in to save.
Reality is often an expensive lesson.

Mrs Pankhurst et al demonstrated for the right to vote, not the right to strike.
I grew up in the 60s and 70s,bad industrial relations ruined this country. As a result I believe employee protection needs to be enshrined in law,but also the public have the right to be protected from greed. If you accept a salary then if at a future time you do not believe it is adequate then move on.In the same vein if an employer changes the terms then you should by law be protected.

ITK, sarcasm and 'lol' are not valid/adult responses to a well made and accurate point.

But the most common problem is changes to terms and conditions, often without consultation.

When this happens, salary renegotiations are usually required.

No?

I don't follow.

Walesa later became Poland's President and Nobel prize winner - and was (with the strike weapon) the reason for the demise of the Iron Curtain.

This is why the right to strike is so important - although, in the UK, many conditions and regulations now apply.

They are when the questioner cannot / will not respond !
Proves you have made your point (and shows how ridiculous the original question was).

Sorry I meant to say his government closed many of the old soviet era plants they struck to defend.
It's very easy to destroy, but a lot harder to rebuild.

I fully agree, but it should be covered by law,not by random acts of industrial espionage.
