Big Brother has totally escaped my radar... am I alone?

Never seen it, JK - but X Factor starts tomorrow ! 18 Years, 8 Months ago

BB has also missed me completely (fortunately). Have seen the odd snippet on the news etc, but nothing else, and never even bother to read the stories in the fodder-press.
All these reality shows are the cause of ITV's downfall - and the recent resignation of their CEO - apparently "Love Island" viewing figures reach double digits on a good night !
On the "up" (ahem) side, X Factor returns tomorrow night to "save" ITV ! No matter what you post on here - you know you'll all be watching it !
(Just to remind you all .... last year's winner was Shane Ward, whose career lasted from (late) Dec 2005 till March 2006).

BB is the one programme that typifies everything that is wrong with television/Britain/the world today.
The fact that 'millions' of people seem to like it is entirely beside the point - give people mind-numbing, undemanding, cheaply made garbage and they will lap it up. However, I believe broadcasters, in both the public AND private sectors have a responsibility to the public to make programmes that will seek to ELEVATE, not degrade, its taste.
Thumb through the pages of a Radio Times from thirty years ago, when every week contained a good variety of dramas (including single, self-standing dramas), classic plays, situation comedies, documentaries and good childrens' programmes. Then try looking at the current schedules to see just how far we've regressed.
It really is sickening.

Whilst in the bath, I had an idea...uh oh..... 18 Years, 8 Months ago

...the ultimate disgraceful reality TV show entitled "Shall I get My Coat?"
The contestants are asked to perform the usual fodder, and the TV audience are not allowed to applaud, until after a ten second gap after the performance, which is ended by the contestant asking the question.."Shall I get my coat?
Assuming the audience do not like the performance, the performer walks off in silence, takes the coat from the studio hand and walks off.
As the public seem to want to be ridiculed, without being thrown to the lions, this is far more pc.
The exploitation of tourettes syndrome on C4 has been well lectured on, and will continue to be for years. If C4 think they are doing their bit for the disabled, then it is about time they allow wheel chaired persons into the house, and make it properly available to all.
