I see you agree with me - that he only got his "award" for being involved with Betty's BunFest.

Normally I would not criticise someone for organising their affairs in a way that best suits them.

But in this case there is something rather hypocritical and distasteful.

He shows his patriotism by "organising" Betty's BunFest - and getting himself an award at the same time !!! - but is gaining all that this country can give (for yourself) whilest avoiding tax really patriotic?

I think not (and I see he's getting quite alot of stick in the media about it too)

I see the lawmakers agree with me .....

MP calls for Gary Barlow to be stripped of his OBE

Labour MP Stephen Pound criticised Barlow yesterday, saying: 'It's less Take That and more like Take That And All The Rest. Gary Barlow needs to do his patriotic duty and show he is not a part-time patriot off-shoring his wealth through this shelter while keeping his OBE on-shore.'

Simon Hughes, the Lib Dem deputy leader, said he was 'on the warpath' over people who did not pay full tax.

He said: 'Honours are meant to be for people who serve Britain and are good citizens in doing so. If you don't pay your taxes you're not a fully decent citizen.

Lib Dem MP Greg Mulholland, a member of the Public Administration Select committee, said: ‘It is wrong for those held up as models of service and duty to be given or indeed to accept honours despite having deliberately avoided the payment of tax.

'Those who are happy to be honoured by their country should also be happy to pay taxes to their country. Not doing so is not acceptable and unpatriotic.’

He added that those honoured by the nation ‘should be happy to make their contribution to national life in every sense’.’

Stephen Williams, the Lib Dems’ co-chair of their Treasury policy committee, added: ‘I don’t think our system should honour individuals who don’t pay their way.’

A load of old bollocks only going to prove that MPs and the media - and you ITK - have too much time on your hands and too few brain cells to be bothered with paying attention to.

I'd add the prat who invented the anti spamming device for this forum to that list JK.

My father spent most of his life as first a tax inspector, then a special tax investigator, finally finishing off in charge of the Midlands tax appeal court.
His view is that it's not the fault of those who use the loopholes to avoid tax,but those who legislate to create them in the first place.

Cameron: "Some of these schemes we have seen are quite frankly morally wrong."

"Chancellor George Osborne described illegal tax evasion and legal but aggressive tax avoidance as "morally repugnant"

This has nothing to do with morals. The only relevant question is: are these schemes legal or illegal? And what have Cameron & Osbourne done against tax avoiding schemes?
