Can somebody explain why our players kept giving the ball to the Italians?
Well, I can't!
But the game should a least stop people applying the 'world class' tag to Rooney.
A good player, but nothing exceptional on the World or European stages.
Barely visable tonight - and totally invisable (banned again) for the competition's first two games!!

our players kept giving the ball to the Italians because they are undisciplined and unfit. Other nations can raise the level of performance but England only seem to have one level. Many of our players are well past it and we need to start afresh with a new (mostly) new squad.
If you look at the two teams during a break in the game, or after 90 mins, you note that the English are often sitting down and drinking gallons of water, where the Italians (and other teams) are more composed and ready for action.
Rooney has never performed well in international competitions, but we keep being told he is our best hope, while other much better players are left on the sideline.
Gerrard was good in his time but now he is gasping after a few minutes. Like others, he finds 90 minutes to long.
Our best player by far, at this contest, was Theo Walcott, who spent most of the time on the bench.
