TOPIC: Italy for Euros?

Italy for Euros? 11 Years, 10 Months ago
I thought it would be Germany but the Italians beat them; the Italians beat us so it would be nice if we were dumped by the eventual winners; I love Italy and don't like Spain (except Seville); I love Italian (my favourite language) and hate Spanish (lisped); I love Italian food and hate Spanish (except Iberico ham); and Italy have the individual star of the contest (not Ronaldo but Balotelli).

Yep, Azzuri EyeTies for Euro Glory.

But JK er, 'hate Spanish' ?

" ..Spanish for "white dove"...the song was adapted...first by Jonathan King in the same year (1976) as the original, and it earned him an award for Best Record of the Year at the Ivor Novello Awards and was a top five UK smash."

Eye-Tie Azurri for Euro-Glory !

Riding the huge Euro-Med/package hols boom of the late 1960s-ongoing, the 1971 Belgian inspirational composition and early '70s European multiple big hit “Eviva España" eventually reached UK no.4 in '74 covered by Swede, Eva Vrethammar. Spending over 6 months there, globally her version alone also sold over a million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. Having missed the Spanish boats & planes Espanophobe KingOfHit$ finally booked his ‘place in the $un’ in ’76 (long before his SUN Wapping-big-thing), with Dutchman George Baker’s also inspirational self-composed 1975 global hit, “Una Paloma Blanca”.

In that same golden era when all balmy Brit summers seemed to be long and hot (’76 hottest of all) we never needed to leave Bloomin’ Blighty. Tho we barmy-Brits do lurve Brits' Hughes & Calvert 1975 inspirational feelgood biggie “Barbados” under their banner ‘Typically Tropical’. With A-list sessioneers: guitars Vic Flick, Chris Spedding, drums Clem Cattini, keyboards Max West & Roger Coulam. Produced by West & Toby Wilcock who also voiced the iconic captain of ‘Coconut Airways’ “ fly me high Barbados sky - WHOAH we’re going to Barbados…” And with Spanish connection, in the days of the first New World Empires the mainland of the American continents enclosing the Caribbean Sea & Gulf of Mexico was referred to as “The Spanish Main”. Happy Daze.

Eye-Tie Azurri for Euro-Glory !
