The Lola record did indeed, and still is, recieving plays from both Scott Mills and Chris Moyles (This is our eighth week of free plays), but Radio 1 will not playlist it for some reason. They say no plot, but two of the stations biggest DJ's have supported the track, without playlist, and continue to do so. However, they have to issue warnings before playing the track. Even Scott Mills, when interviewing Lola for his show, asked her how she felt about the fact that they can play 50 Cent, JT's SexyBack, Robbie's Rudebox, and numerous other tracks with far greater offensive lyrics, at any point of the day, yet, a song which speaks of the most natural desire in the world, without any lewd lyrical content, cannot be played. It's insane and without jumping on the conspiracy bandwagon, i do believe it's because people just cannot deal with a woman admitting to having sexual feelings that are not there entirely to please a man. Lola is fantasing about having sex with a man in the record, but she does it on her terms, she wants pleasing, not the other way round. Of course, she's a slut because of this, all woman who like sex for themseleves are - right??
Regionally, they're terrified to play it becuase of the title and the lyrics. Despite really great feedback on the track.
Thank god for Simon Sadler, who once again, has gone with a record he believes in, despite what the rest of the sheep in the industry are doing. He playlisted the track on The Box without any question of it's content, because he understands, there needen't be.
