I know they have planned a second series but I hoped he'd wake up, leaving his 1973 "friends" without him, pangs of guilt and us on tenterhooks as to how the hell they were going to justify a second series.
Still, perhaps I was hoping for too much.
I did enjoy the series.

Dennis Weaver dies at 81; brilliant in Duel; great as Chester. R.I.P (nm) 18 Years, 2 Months ago

I think he did pull the trigger. I was also disapointed... 18 Years, 2 Months ago
My (complete) guess is they wrote an ending but as the series was so popular they commissioned a 2nd and changed the end of episode 8 to allow that. I suppose excellent one series dramas get forgotten (Maelstrom & Spy Ship anyone?)

I cant believe it'll be a year before we find out whats going on.

Would be interesting to see a Christmas special or something after the 2nd series where Gene goes back (or forward) to 2006 with Sam.

He goes back and takes Gene with him.
Gene HATES 2006, can't work it out; wants to go back but has to be a 2006 cop, not a 1973 one.
Sam has to decide to help Gene return to 1973... which will mean he has to go back too. Whilst coping with Gene beating the shit out of innocent victims of false allegations instead of destroying them with politeness and legal trickery!
WOW!
The new series starts with several 2006 episodes before they are catapaulted back; this time with Gene knowing the truth and desperate to send his saviour Sam back to his own era...
Good or what?
Come on BBC, don't be too proud to ask!
Meantime the last time JK was a BBC person (when we won Eurovision 1997 with the biggest vote ever at that time) is sadly emulated Saturday in Making Your Mind Up (without the assistance of the man with a brain).
