YouTube has now deals with all the major labels. (Even with UMG)

So who will get the money from these deals?

As far as I know, the artists pay at least 50 per cent of the video costs. Right?

But the labels own all the rights and in most contracts videos are defined as "promotional items" (or something similar). So will the artist get a share of the YouTube money? How much?

And what about performance royalties? Must YouTube (like radio/TV/film) pay ASCAP/BMI?

and suddenly the site becomes worth

It is an all shares deal. And yesterday the share price was up 8.50 dollar. Google has about 215 million shares, so the deal paid for itself.

The big question is will the content/copyright-agreements really work?
