For the first time in 10 years I haven't read the finalists. Strangely, the Winner will be announced live on BBC News at Ten and then the entire ceremony will be shown and discussed on BBC2 at 10.30... an odd way to do it but I'll be watching. A former winner, The God Of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, is also well worth reading (I seem to remember it was my favourite that year alongside a wonderful novel about Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness by, if I remember right, Jim Crace.)
