Monday Tip 17 Years, 6 Months ago
www.myspace.com/budgemagraw

I have known this guy absolutely ages, and the reasons I am tipping this are...

A;because he`s a lovely fella
B;because I have no idea how he got into this style of music.( he won`t even know I`ve listened to it.)
C;because there is a gap in the market for it I think.

Either way, it is very hard not to enjoy, great fun.

I'm still patiently waiting for a rockabilly revival. It's been a while since the last one. I was thinking about Robert Gordon over the weekend.

This is nice, although I could do without "Cowboy". "Without Your Love" stands out.

Sounds well done to me, not my cup of tea by any means although I love the Mr Bassman on "Like A Dream", 'cause Mr Bassman, I want to be a Bassman too!

Wonder if there is a gap in the market? I can imagine the Radio 2 listeners enjoying it. Has he sent a CD to the producers of Heartbeat?!

I found the songs little too busy.

Other than that I enjoyed them. It's a shame this kind of revival stuff only gets notice if some currently popular 'soap-star' sings it. Though he does look the part and would do very nicely.

I like the Heatrtbeat suggestion, no idea if they'd pick it up but still a good suggestion.

Isn't a 50s revival about due?

Nice idea but no hits... 17 Years, 6 Months ago
It's easy to copy a style; less easy to write a hit.
Would quite like an album of totally different songs given this treatment; Anarchy In The UK, for example.

Or Smiths. I see he's a Morrissey fan (like all right thinking music lovers).

How about The Boy With The Thorn In His Side?

Anarchy in the UK works very well if delivered in a Lonnie Donnegan Style skiffle...

Or Trad Country and Western

Don't speak by No Doubt works quite well sung Cerys Matthews style (as my wife is known to do on long car journeys... I corrupted that woman)

It's more our sense of humour than a serious view of the music...

Actually I really like "Cowboy", I just could hear more that should be going on that isn`t , there are gappy bits, which could be even more gimmick laden.
But, this is the way Tipsheet is going, we are not going "yeh thats good" or "nah that is shite", we are all going, "wouldnt it be a possibilty if....?"
The lower end of the market is crammed with pseudo swing bands, but doo-wop, appears to be not touched area, except on Radio 4 comedy programmes, and of course Jonathan Ross.
