I loved the Dead Boys, when I saw them Stiv Bator(was that his name?god rest his soul) curled himself into the bass drum and carried on singing , whilst the Damned who they were supporting, disabled the instruments with shaving foam.
Very entertaining, but sadly pretty inaudible on the night.
An interesting set of films, 30 years on, and still no dividing line between punk and new wave!
Who drew that line I ask?

I remember seeing a Blondie album sporting a sticker: "100% Punk".

New Wave probably came to be used when people realised they weren't supposed to spit at Television or Magazine.

"New Wave" was a marketing category used by the industry to get the punk "revolution" under control ...

A friend of mine has a badge which reads "Preserve the past, Pickle a Punk." I remember the days of punk very well, but can't say I remember them with affection. I was a mere teen back then and thought that music, like Elvis, had died for good, but, thankfully, the industry recovered.
