I been lucky and managed to get my hands on a over 300 tip sheets, I just wonded how many tipsheets have been made and I assume from looking at the website no more have been made?

I've just taped my Tipsheet video Brian; as for how many there were, little Joe (a regular board visitor) will be able to answer that better than I!

Thanks I watch it with intrest. I never heared of Tipsheet untill a few days ago and now I hold in my hands a collect of over 300 from the Disctronics.

Yes we started giving free CD's of our Records of the Week early on and they have become treasured mementos... ditto the printed sheets themselves.

The next move may well be a combination of message boards plus "Listen Here" type streaming demos.

It's interesting to note you tried to log onto four tube sites that had been tipped and none of them worked. Not everyone wants to be tied to their computer listening to music, some want to listen to it in the car..on a hi-fi. Yes it has given a couple of bands their big break but its not 100%... the biggest force is simply.. word of mouth.

Take Darkness...no one had heard of them but it was all down to word of mouth. The film the Matrix - another sleeper hit thanks to word of mouth.

I say, keep the tipsheets going.... plus they are collectable in their own right as well...and not many promo's have that kind of status.

Interesting you mentioned the "Matrix" Brian, as I heard of it via the fact that my first internet ready computer, way, way ,back, had a screensaver featuring the film, which is how I personally heard of it.
Internet and music tipping?
Different subject.
When faxing first came out, early tippers like myself involved acts with our people, and invented , without realising, spamming.This was soon ruined by advertising companies who would use a whole roll of fax paper overnight sending you complete crap, which 18 years down the line has lead to nobody opening an e-mail with "fwd fwd fwd" written on it, or too many names inserted.
Now back to "word of mouth", it`s a very small community that can break acts, I don`t know what you do for a living Brian, but I do hope nobody is looking over your shoulder trying to get your job, when everybody was doing that to me, I was too naive to realise what was going on, that said, I made rather a lot of dosh by being ahead of the game via the internet and found acts/ bands before a lot of people had worked out how I was doing it, and I shall continue to do it.
Word of mouth yes, but just "enough" internet links suffices.
Tipsheets still going? absolutely yes.

all but the first 50 or so had CD's too.
