Good choices this year, I'll be voting wherever and whenever I can, so good to see a certain boy band missing this year!

How ironic, the live show is all about guitar bands that have rocked the year, and the single shortlist all very pop MOR tracks that have been successful this year....how about bridging the gap..or would that be a bit risky???

Where are the Kooks - Naive? One of the most successful breakthrough million selling rock acts this year, Killers - when you were you,

im shocked at the safe pop sentiment. Not that its a bad shortlist...just so hugely predictabel.

said my bit.

Ah well Clare; I'd probably call Crazy the Record of the Year but Hips was everywhere too and of course I have a soft spot for No Tomorrow... I reckon our list is pretty global and populist.

Well, obviously crazy should win, but i am wondering if there may be some leverage on the term Year in all of this?!
What classes a record of the year? Is it the hit value, the publicity, the promotion, the longevity or is it how many hours it stays in your head as it was the last song you heard on your car stereo... hehe
The latter would conclude that Chelsea Daggers should be in there, no...
There are many a song that I feel should be in there, but i'm not in the finalist committee, and therefore have to pick from the list we got!

Hi JK, just a quick one. Would you possibly be encouraging copyright infringement with the 'make your own video' feature ? Are you giving your enemies a door to persecute you again ?

By the way i like the idea and it is a brave move to put it on the net but fantastic as an idea.
I spent a few hours on Youtube looking up the Spice Girls videos and doco and also Stephanie McKintosh and GirlBand. Your Oz visitors will know who they are.

The power of the web for TV is brilliant and i have been enjoying watching Man Utd video highlights on their website.

However with Youtube, Myspace copyright issues and server problems i predict that some bright spark will develop a video solution that you can put on your website and the killer website would be a directory
that reviews and filters them all.

Keep up the good work.

Personally I like it, better than having Pop tracks all the time, at least Westlife or McFly won't get anything this year.

I hope Hips wins, I kind of like Shakira's bootie.

After much deliberation, I have just picked my favourite hit of the year, and it is The Feeling "Fill My Little World Right Up".
Not on the list:(

My favourite Record of the Year is hardly ever on the list or, if it is, it doesn't win.

Having said that, I thought Flying Without Wings (1999) was brilliant and I liked the S Club 7 track a lot.

Generally, my taste is not amongst that of the masses but I do think CRAZY was incredibly well made and commercial and No Tomorrow WAS picked by me when nobody else was interested.

I just was comparing notes on "Crazy" with a mutual friend, and it was not very high budget in my opinion, but it is still the soundtrack of a very long and eventful year.
By the way? Who is holding the glove puppet on the promotional video for the show?
I think this a brave idea doing the show this year this way.
New people who have not heard of it need to be attracted to the idea.
MTV fluxs` most played video is of a guy shouting into a camera, with an "if I can do it so can you attitude".
