It will be interesting tonight. My pick from ages ago - Sweden with Frans and If I Were Sorry - has slipped right down the odds. I bet on it at 5-1 - it's now 25-1 with some. I still think it's the only real hit in the show.
Sweden only came 5th but interesting that the UK public vote went to Lithuania (see above). And our Jury winner - Georgia, which goes to prove the UK music industry professionals have really lost it.
I thought the Ukraine song was superb and I'm pleased the UK jury gave top marks to Georgia which I also liked. Gutted for Joe and Jake though who deserved better. Vote Brexit!
It was clear months ago the UK would finish way down the list. It's a disgrace. The British song choice really needs sorting. Above all the BBC should not be the decision maker on any level.
Normally I don't bet on Eurovision unless there's a certainty and that, to me, is usually a certain global hit. My ears told me Sweden's Frans had that. Perhaps wrong - as I was not with Just A Little Bit, my perfect Eurovision winner, which only came 8th. That was, I suspect, because Gina G was merely adequate whereas Katrina, the following year, was superb and sold a weaker song much better. I still think If I Were Sorry deserves to be huge. Let us wait and see. Like the Dutch entry a few years ago (The Flying Linnets?) which came second but was a global hit.
