The great Brian Matthews (who I remember from Saturday Club) does his final show. He has been the example of what, in my opinion, DJ's should be - informative as well as entertaining; playing a terrific mix of music; and will be much missed every Saturday morning. As a special treat - the whole of Foot Tapper by The Shadows finished the show.

...and bye bye Radio 2.

After Brian stated he had not 'retired due to ill health', Lord Hall-Hall's news team are blatantly acting as The Ministry Of Truth.

Meanwhile, Desperate Tony tweets that from next week Phil Swern will be taking to the microphone every week to introduce 'two rare tracks' every week. That suggests that, as sadly expected, this show full of delightful obscurities will become just another Tony Blackburn Show, packed full of chart hits & soul, and little else. Not that I'll be awake at 6am - and, without 'listen again' my car radio's are all set to be redundant. I will have to purchase Kenwood head units with USB in order to play my own music, with the money I would previously have set aside for the TV license.
