TOPIC: Embers - UK Eurovision
Embers - UK Eurovision 1 Month, 1 Week ago
By James Newman (quite a good singer) and a dozen co-writers have come up with an average song, made by Committee.

When will they ever learn?

It's not brain surgery. First - find a hit. Easier said than done. I listened to thousands - literally - before finding Love City Groove, Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit and Love Shine A Light.
Then you make sure the performer can sell it on TV (the reason Gina G failed with a better song than Katrina).

I must admit at 76 I no longer have the vaguest idea of what young people like to buy, to dance to or to vote for. I hear most Number Ones and cannot see any mass appeal. Then I check sales; they are tiny. Streaming and views, however, are enormous. But that could be curiosity and cost nothing.

But am I now one of those boring old farts who mutter "not like that in my day"?

I suggest listening to my new single and commenting. Is this very 30 years ago? My friend in Morocco, in his 20s, loves it and says his friends do too. They all like exactly the same tracks as that generation everywhere (listen online to Moroccan FUN Radio). But he is a friend; so biased.
