Very sad to hear about the death of the Fame Actress and Singer at the age of 63. She was also the co-writer (with Giorgio Moroder) of the theme to the film "FlashDance" with "Flashdance - What a feeling". She largely disappeared from the public eye after that, at least in the uk, but those of us who fondly remember those 2 films will always have a place for her in our hearts.

I know a lot of people will say that Flashdance was a cheesy film, but it had some iconic scenes which have been widely parodied and copied over the years (Gerry Halliwell, Jennifer Lopez) and they have provided a lot of pleasure to millions of people.

When I look back at the 80's a lot of it was cheesy however Flash Dance will be a classic film in the next decade. I didn't like Breakfast Club however the soundtrack is getting bought by a lot of young people in record shops.

My favourite film is Highlander and its great big slice of 80's cheese and full of continuity errors and zip wires and harnesses. I wouldn't change any of it. I do Fame a lot cheesy can be good.

I only saw the film "Fame" for the first time about 8 years ago, and found it to be completely different from what I expected given the tv series "Fame". The film is a very gritty realistic and sometimes dark depiction of life in a performing arts school directed by respected director Alan Parker. The title song, sung by Cara got to number 1 in 1982 on the back of the tv series. Flashdance is a great feel-good film that still stands up today, whereas other music based films of the time have been largely forgotten such as "Chorus Line", "Can't stop the music" and "Xanadu".

I never saw Xanadu.

I saw Sgt Pepper film in a theatre. All I remember is the scene where Peter Frampton is on a roof and the audience yelled "Jump" and "We show him fucking the way". I think it was at the time people were bored with Frampton Comes Alive and Show Me the Way still on heavy rotation on radio and record shops.
