A true troubadour he was.

I hope he is in Biscuit City with a banjo.

My it's hard to pin-point my favorite Lightfoot song.

However I love he mentions Patsy Cline, Kitty Wells, Wilf Carter.

(For young Wyot)
Kitty Wells was one of the first female country singers if not the first. Wilf Carter was also a Canadian like Gordon Lightfoot.

Thank you GM and as you have guessed these names are all new to "young Wyot". I can't get a handle on your age GM, but somewhere between 55 and 150 seems a safe bet..

I feel the latter at times. When I was overweight it did some damage to my joints.

Biscuit City was a song he sang for his 80's album Salute which I still own on vinyl.

Wyot, you missed a trick instead of slutting it around in/out the nightclubs. You could of traveled around the Shires and become a full-time troubadour. You could of made a concept album the Southampton and called Saints,Wharf & Pier. Second concept album could be about the London elite scumbags stealing Croydon from Surrey with a collaborations by both Eden Kane and Johnny Moped.

Well I ask ya
What a way to treat a guy
What a way to cheat and lie
Because I wanted you
Well I ask ya
Did you have to bring me down
Did you have to go to town
And smash my world in two
Don't think you're getting away with it
You're gonna pay me some how
You cruelly wrecked my life
But oh you want me now
Oh baby just you ask me
Get down on your knees and try
I won't break till I see you cry
Like me when I ask you
Alright
Don't think you're getting away with it
You're gonna pay me some how
You cruelly wrecked my life
But oh you want me now
Just you ask me
Get down on your knees and try
I won't break till I see you cry
Like me when I ask you
Well I ask ya
Well I ask ya
Well I ask ya
Well I ask ya

New Lyrics

Well I ask ya
What a way to treat a guy
What a way to steal and lie
Because I wanted you
Well I ask ya
Did you have to bring me down
Did you have to go to Surr-ey
And smash my county in two
Don't think you're getting away with it
You're gonna pay me some how
You cruelly wrecked my life
But oh you want me now
Why didn't you just you ask me
Get down on your knees and cry
I won't break till I see you cry
Like me when I ask you
Alright
Don't think you're getting away with it
You're gonna pay me some how
You cruelly wrecked my life, when you stole Croydon
But oh you want me soul
Just you ask me
Get down on your knees and try
I won't break till I see you cry
Like me when I ask you
Well I ask ya
Well I ask ya
Well I ask ya
Well I ask ya, give me back Sur-rey.

You're a joy for car rides. I bet you sing Comfortably Numb with all your might though.

I do keep a couple of harmonicas in the car, something to do in traffic jams.

I find Comfortably Numb mind numbingly boring. I like Floyd when they are wildly inventive not derivative: Echoes, Animals.

You are the only person I "know" who beats traffic jams with a harmonica - fair play!

I have no idea people moan about traffic jams. It's also an excuse to be primitive; like taking a slash outside.
