Oh it is VERY interesting to us, Lester, since I named them and created them.
Thanks PhilE

What a band 10cc were. Better than Queen, IMHO, but with a less well-defined image. I loved those records, and that UK Records label.

Thank you Rick; I know there are many who would agree with you. I thought 10cc were a stupendous band (and told Graham that when we lunched last month). They were a highly intelligent group - lyrically and musically. However - I think Queen were equally great in a different way. Mercury was an incredible singer and writer. And some of the sonics in their harmonies were extraordinary. I was lucky enough to have started two giants in music - Genesis and 10cc; neither of whom would have existed without me. But with Queen and The Beatles and The Stones and Pinl Floyd, they were all, for me, in the Top Ten of the last Century - and all British.

10cc were very avant garde and some times a simple pop song were thrown on the albums. Every day I get messages from friends in Long Island and NYC about The Beatles. They seem to be more popular there than UK at the moment, I only coming up with this assumption because no record shop I go to plays them nor do I know anyone who owns a Beatles record or CD.

Beatlesfest still goes on under a different name in New Jersey and the radio show Breakfast with The Beatles is still on air.

Rick, my eldest sister loves the UK Records label even to this day. There needs to be a bumper box set with the B-sides. Or a UK Records album box set. I like to have Arizona Star,The Butterfly Ball And The Grasshopper's Feast and Method on CD.

Our 80 Greatest Hits on UK Records is a 4 CD gem; I play it in the car on long journeys and it's really magnificent (in my totally biased opinion). It sold out within two weeks but can still be Spotified.

Not knocking anyone but the post didn’t seem that informative or world-shattering JK. Unquestionably though, the act, the name, the records and the record label were supreme. Absolutely.

However, wasn’t there some, putting it mildly, discontent by the band over royalties, “4% Of Something”?

There was indeed so we put up the royalty on condition they stuck with the new rates. A year later they complained again, broke contract, went to PolyGram, now Universal. I still get royalties on their Universal tracks.
