Two old duffers were arguing in a pub about about the correct way to pronounce Bowie.
I even believe David Bowie pronounced Bowie wrong.
I remember Sam Bowie from the NBA well. I have to gone many museums, where tour guides say Booee when they spoke James Bowie like the NBA commentators.
I didn't want to interfere and say Booee but it was funny seeing two saddos in a pub arguing.
I bet David Bowie didn't care how the name was said because it was only his stage name.

His ex wife says her name as Angie Bowie to rhyme with Joey, and she should know, I suppose?

He said himself it was Booie like the knife much later on, but I think he started off as Bow rhyming with Joe for several reasons, and the knife thingy was just a mid life affectation.
My reasons are that his son was Zowie, and according to his father he was named after Salinger's Zooey character, which is actually pronounced as Zoe.
Angie Bowie was his wife right at the beginning, and they didnt speak for years, so if she is Bowie to rhyme with snowy now, she must have always been.
