Awful; not a real song; could get NUL Points. And the concentration camp video is horrid.

Congratulations on getting this correct in terms of the general public.

Public - 0 points. Juries - 46 points.

How can these juries be at such odds with the public? The public got this one spot on.

Maybe the juries like to have their backs to wall or on some occasions facing them.

The Uk entries seem to get worse. Yes, you can be edgy progressive but Olly, is a one trick pony. Prancing about like he was in Hot Gossip is boring and had a boring song to match

There was nothing edgy or progressive about Olly Alexander or his song.

Dull, uninspiring boredom springs to mind.

You could probably get something more edgy and interesting out of someone twice his age nowadays.

This choice for the UK had very narrow and limited appeal. Even here in the UK charts which I checked up on earlier today this entry has so far only managed to make No42 for a quick week and vanish again, a number of weeks ago, so hasn't even been able to crack the Top 40 in his home nation in the run up to Eurovision and has been off the charts for weeks now.

It seems that the judges/juries are so out of touch with reality. They go what they think is his good but that just reeks of corporate. Men in suits are so out of touch.

As a gay guy I find this embarrassing. I have fought for equality and acceptance all my adult life and believe it is right to do so. This 'performance' is not about that though. This has nothing to do with acceptance. This is ramming the 'sex' part of our homosexuality down other people's throats. It was totally unnecessary. I felt uncomfortable watching it. Your not helping us Olly.

The song was utter shite anyway.

I think the BBC is in a completely alternate universe. Most gay men and women are fully mainstream, not in some kind of separate little bubble of our own, and this is NOT what any of us want.

Good point on corporate group think Green Man. Who were the jury, are their identities and affiliations published?

I know several gay guys and few trannies.

However, they hate that media ram homosexuals in the public throats, especially in campy competitions and reality TV.

I vaguely remember when Pet Shops Boys, Rob Halford and Micheal Stipe all came out. Nobody cared and cares now and Judas Priest record sales went up.

A gay friend and I, saw a group of students with flags. He said to them in a very poofy voice, in which he does not have "Coming out is Sooo 1990". Then he held my hand for dramtic effect. Then he followed with "Look, nobody cares."

The glares he got, was enough to set him on fire.

Why are most posts here by someone whose ID is Green Man? Is he an industry figure under a nom de plume or someone valued by Jonathan King?

Green Man is indeed a regular poster. We welcome everyone. Sadly very few industry figures post these days. Perhaps because they are ghosts?

Are you still in touch with industry figures JK. re the Tipsheet, there don’t appear to be many, if any, music business folk here. The Tipsheet might be a whole lot more interesting and possibly visited more by active people in the business if there were insights published to what’s going on in the industry.

Sadly no; very few current industry friends (though many who were in it in my day). I don't think there IS an industry anymore. That is the problem.

If they can do mircacles with AI e.g Beatles and Randy Travis then do we need artists for the future?

I do blame a lot of retailers for not having listening booths in their stores and lack of promotions. When staff in HMV write their recommendations on a album, we have to take their word for it. Pulling out a phone and going online to hear snippets is silly.

My partner did try to find some albums she saw on HMV website (she refuses to buy online) the staff said in all the stores that "We only get a certain CD's that the head office want in" or "You can order it online"

To cut out the middle man a lot of bands only sell their albums on their websites.
