TOPIC: Trolls, Spam, the Tipsheet and Eurovision
#243560
Trolls, Spam, the Tipsheet and Eurovision 1 Week, 6 Days ago
The good news is that the odd bit of spam is now in English (previously most in Russian). The bad news is next to no comments on music (though tens of thousands of views on the Swift opinion). And certainly none from the "music industry". Most views will come this week, as viewers like to see my thoughts on Eurovision. But again, few contribute. Why? Because music is no longer an essential in life, like food and drink and air. These days it's a luxury - no, not even that - an element of life like garages or hospitals. And those that run it are simply doing a job, like driving a taxi. As long as the financial bottom line is OK - nobody cares about quality. And yes - quality need not be Genesis or 10cc. It can be Who Let The Dogs Out or Gina G.
So why do so many spam and trolls escape the filter and why are there so few genuine music posts? Because The Tipsheet was started over 25 years ago as an attempt to spread enthusiasm and avoid the bean counters in music. Long before Twitter or Facebook or Google or You Tube. Even before My Space. Remember My Space?
Well this is my space and I'll keep on loving great music, thank you. Mass Appeal music that sells 16 million vinyl copies like Dogs, Chumbas and Everyone's Gone To The Moon did (well that only sold 9 million but it was in the days of reduced incomes - 1965).
I'll keep my 2024 Eurovision comments to this thread this year.

Interesting - the other thread on Eurovision has had 17,000 views so far - as a result, comments on this year will be added to that thread.
