Interesting JK, that you call them pop records, not punk records.

The only prog rock I know are Pink Floyd with "Another Brick in the Wall", which I liked and remember as a small child. Most of this music came out when I was primary school age or below and would have been below my radar. One criticism of prog rock is that it doesn't come from the street and isn't about rebellion. It is middle-class kids making songs about wizards and elfins, which as Morrissey would say "Says nothing to me about my life".

I must be about the same age as you Robbie but have dipped into Floyd's early catalogue. I don't gave a deep knowledge of prog (notoriously hard to define and many would dispute PF are it) like GM.

But if you listen to early Floyd, Genesis, or (later) Marillion you would be hard pushed to find references to elves; but I know what you mean. There is a fair bit of that sort of thing in the 70s rock bands generally and it can be very wacky..

One of my all time favourite songs is the marvellous I'll Find My Way Home by Jon & Vangelis. The other big one they had together wasn't too bad either, I Hear You Now. His voice is unique.

Both songs are popular on hospital radio. Oddly enough, I have picked up the Best of Jon and Vangelis from the stack for the truck this morning.

It's hard to believe that Jon Anderson will be 80 next month.
