I thought when Chester died, the name retired. I was wrong on that. Linkin Park is just another band who are now just a brand.

Name me a band that isn't a brand? The ones who insist they aren't a brand, just make a brand out of that.

I see your point Wyot, however, I always felt if the lead singer left or died the band should be renamed.

Anyone can play chords but not many people can sing and sound the same as the original singer.

I agree with this. When Tony Hadley left Spandau Ballet, they tried reforming with a new singer. It didn't work out. The fans won't accept it. Big Country are still touring without Stuart Adamson, who took his own life. They have about 1 original member. I never really liked them anyway. All there songs sounded the same. In the Big Country and Fields of Fire, you could hardly put a cigarette paper between the two songs. If you go and see Queen with Adam Lambert, in your heart of hearts you know if is not Queen.

Big Country have had numerous line up changes, they have been a tribute band for year's now. The venues they play in are pretty much dives. Wet Wet Wet are going without Marti, he was Wet Wet Wet. FFS.

If you see Queen you are really going because you want to see Brian May, he is pretty much done now due to ill health. There are 3 Queen tribute acts who are Very successful. I never got into their music and I bought It's A Kind Of Magic for Highlander music.

Queen Extravaganza, is the only one endorsed by May and Taylor. Killer Queen and One Night of Queen do sell out venues.

Take Steeleye Span without Maddy there would be no Steeleye Span.

Tony Hadley was Spandau Ballet, I have no idea why Hadley does not own the name. When he does package concerts he is near the bottom of the bill.

What I have heard from people who met the Kemps are not polite words.

I love to see Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets which Gary is a member of. They don't do many regional concerts, they tour in America mainly and the odd concert in London or Birmingham.

Hadley doesn't own the name because the Kemps won't allow it. After the court case in 1999, the non-Kemp members had to go on tour as Hadley, Norman, and Keeble, because Gary and Martin wouldn't give them the name. Gary wrote all the songs, apart from one on the last studio album, written by Norman. Hadley seems like a decent guy, but Gary sometimes seems a bit up himself and was very controlling towards the end of the bands career. He always refers to Spandau as my band, not our band. For Spandau Gary kept half of the song writing royalties for himself and shared the other half between the other 4 members. When the band finished Gary took all the royalties, be he clamed that the band wasn't operational anymore so the others didn't get a wage. I think that this is fair, he could have taken 100% of all royalties from the start, and this is why he won the court case against him over royalties. I think it was remarkable that they got back together in 2009 and 2015 considering the hatred against Gary after the court case and the bitterness, but then money talks. I went to both reunion tours, which were great concerts at the o2 and Liverpool Echo Arena.
