Oh we remember him so well as Miss Music Week 1997!
That title has now, of course, passed to his protege Ajax "Lovely Eyes" Scott... and anyone wanting to know the origin of THAT nickname had better contact Universal Music.

OK, they've made history. Now they need to pull the physical release which will make last weeks sales void, then they'll really make history!

Seriously though.. the times they are a-changin'

love it; pull the physical; reschedule it a week later; really screw up OCC! 18 Years, 1 Month ago
Game playing is the theme of the year.
What on earth could OCC do if they did that?
Since the entire point now is to SELL AS MUCH PRODUCT AS POSSIBLE, the more publicity from silly behaviour the better and when you've got a guaranteed hit like Barkley, you've got every excuse to keep screwing around and getting maximum media attention (and exposure).

The beginning of the end? 18 Years, 1 Month ago
Not the end of singles but the end of the chart?
Means nothing anymore.
I like your Pop Eye idea in Attitudes JK.

Lets put another context on this... 18 Years, 1 Month ago
I do not remember ever seeing an advert for an MP3 player, without a male or female neatly pictured in an empty room, or maybe just sitting on a sofa on a wooden floor.
The same can be applied to current hi-fi system newspaper ads, and computer ads.
The product, seen completely alone with the user(s).
Now , I believe, this is causing a life style change, people want to live with virtually nothing around them, henceforth, they are less likely to want to buy a pile of cd`s.
Flicking through my collection the other night, there are so many that I would never want to hear again, but you still have to give them house room, or stick them on e-bay, to other people that probably don`t want to either.
This is also why I feel the fifty year copyright law, will not be changed, as in fifty years time, most people would surely have deleted the Gnarls from their i-pod.

Pull the physical release? A bit late to do that, when it's been sitting at retail since last Thursday/Friday, and the likes of EUK must have had stock since early/middle of last week.

And why cause chaos at OCC. The chart has served the industry well. Screwing it up is only going to shoot the industry in the foot. (But that's not unusual!).
