Record Of The Day seems to close down Fridays - not that there's anything worth listening to or reading on there.
Who on earth picks their awful tracks? And how dare they claim credit when one in two hundred actually turns into a hit?
There's nowhere else for us music people to come on Saturdays and Sundays.
Mind you - you should see Brook Green at weekends these days. In the days of Rupert and JF it was buzzing seven days a week.

I have been dealing with independent bands all day today, this is probably because the acts have day jobs, I feel.
I get more traffic to my e-mail from bands on a Saturday than any other day of the week.
Rust is not rusting or sleeping!

It's gotta be hard to pick a track a day, I think they do a very good job. A lot of stuff has gone on to be successful, what do you want?

the only other ways are for the boards to be uncensored, as on the Velvet Rope (where you risk a lot of rubbish) or to have board keepers who live and breathe music as we do on here.
Also we have several American board keepers so we stay active 24 hours a day, covering even our friends down under.
It's not as easy as it sounds with the time zones.
But I do take your point about the labels.
Perhaps EMI spies are out at gigs all night and throughout the weekend.
But I fear it's that the lower level employees in majors feel their efforts contribute nothing at all.
Which is a BIG mistake.
If I was running EMI (nearly was) I'd be in the offices all over the world every hour every day.
Mind you, without my beloved Concorde it would be hard.
