Opinions on a house/club song please 18 Years, 1 Month ago
Hi
This wont be everyones cup of WKD, but I'd really like some views epecially from anyone connected with house & club music (although it is a "propper song" with a chorus)

www.myspace.com/nathanjayremixes2

track : "Im Afraid"

The female vocalist is a bit of a rock chick and not keen on my remix. So I need some unbiased opinions please.

The bass sound might sound a bit CASIO-esque to start with & needs redoing, bare with it though..

Thanks Tipsters!

Bass definitely needs fattening up.
The singer has an unusual voice i must say not gonna be everyone's cup of tea.

pads need to be less early 90s or inject something else to it to make it more interesting.

Idea is good though the filter on the vocals need to open quicker. However it must also say something that people can remember and sing along to coz the quirkyness of the singer makes it interesting though if people can sing along to it then u will lose the hook.

Not bad but not spectacular either

Hmm, not sure about this:

- The vocal sound is odd and sounds sped up to me.
- The song isn't very strong, the verse melody is a little irritating.
- I wasn't sure about the production, it sounds very dated.
- The arrangement doesn't have any punch, nothing makes me want to get up & dance.
- It doesn't sound like a club record to me, not does it a chart song.

Sorry, it's all quite negative. Hope it was constructive enough to help though.

Kev.

It feels like the bassline to a White Stripes track but in a different order!

Like it though. Good work

This is why I like Tipsheet.. 18 Years, 1 Month ago
Everyones too nice on the forums I usually visit. I dont need nice, I need honesty! So thanks for the feedback so far.

Kev: Although the vocal is sped up from 88bpm to 125bpm, the pitch is the same. She does have a distinctive voice...

I need to upgrade from my 90s Roland Groovebox and get some new sounds.

Thanks again all

I don't mean sped up as far as pitch goes, I mean the really fast vibrato and phrasings. 88 -> 125bpm is one hell of a change.
