With added drums.
Your comments please. It still sounds like a smash to me.

I agree with you JK. Genesis are underrated but they do have their fans out there - I'm one of them, so if the song was on an album I would go out and buy it.

Something about the drums seems wrong 18 Years ago
As a Genesis fanatic I've heard this song 100s of times, so bear in mind how biased I am...

Theres something about the drums in the verses that doesnt sound quite right.. may be 'cos Im not used to them, but I cant say if theyre too loud or slightly off beat a couple of times... I cant explain, but all the fills & chorus drumming are fine.

An r'n'b or hip hop looped break beat would be tops!

I never really liked the high voilins of the original (too loud) but the lower strings work really well.

I've never heard the original, but the drums aren't fitting the groove. It sounds like they're getting behind from time to time.

It's fantastic 18 Years ago
I know some of the early songs but not that well.
I like the Genesis with Gabriel stuff.
I think this is excellent and will buy it the moment it's released.

I know what you mean Fogg... 18 Years ago
I think it's the rhythm in the last verse that slows down slightly but I think it works fine and I do agree it sounds like a hit today. Gabriel's voice is so individual and dreamy yet there's a strength there and the lyrics come through which they don't it many later Genesis stuff.

Re:Check out the new, remixed THE SILENT SUN by Peter Gabriel and Genesis - 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Can anyone (JK?) shed some light on why/how the artist of this release and its companion "The Genesis of Genesis" is now listed as "Peter Gabriel and Genesis"?

My understanding is that "Peter Gabriel" is a trademark not under JK's control, and that the legal artist credit on this song (and all the FGTR songs) is "Genesis"

Does Peter Gabriel perform the drums on this new track, or is there some other reason/explanation for the change in the artist name on an FGTR re-release?

Yes Interested; the reason I've named this package Peter Gabriel and Genesis is because it was always Peter's voice that caught my ear and made me sign them, produce them and name them.

Peter has now been a solo artiste for so long that many Genesis fans think Phil was the lead singer.

This clarifies that and does not pretend to be a more recent recording.

Re:Peter Gabriel and Genesis 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Ok. I can see that.

But there's no trademark infringement on "Peter Gabriel"? I'm no lawyer, but seems like since the artist of record is "Genesis" adding "Peter Gabriel" which to my knowledge is a registered TM would require some agreement with Peter Gabriel. Or was that always part of the rolyalty deal and just never excercised to this extent?

Sorry to be pedantic. I track Genesis releases in great detail and am very intrigued by the sudden change in Artist name, and more so given the recent news of a possible Genesis reunion.

AWFULLY coincidental, and I'm hoping this change here is an indication of other changes to come on the Genesis front...

Stop my speculating if its over the top
