MySpace Grabs Gnarls Barkley Album Release Exclusive 18 Years ago
Gnarls Barkley made history by becoming the first group to top the UK
singles chart with a digital-only release. Now, the duo will debut their
full album digitally on MySpace, sparking excitement ahead of a physical
release. The plans, which first surfaced early this morning, will involve a
three-day streaming exclusive on myspace.com/gnarlsbarkley. The action
begins this Friday, and fans will have access to the album stream until
Monday. The release, which will be titled St. Elsewhere, will hit physical
retailers on May 9th. At this point, it is unclear if the group is planning
a digital-only album sales release window.

Gnarls Barkley is a collaborative effort involving Danger Mouse and Cee-lo.
The winning single, "Crazy," is an upbeat ditty that combines the soulful
pipes of Cee-lo with a well-crafted Danger Mouse track. That song is already
available as a stream on MySpace, along with other tracks "Go Go Gadget
Gospel," "Gone Daddy Gone," and "Smiley Faces". Interestingly, none of those
songs can be downloaded, pointing to a calculated digital game plan. MySpace
currently boasts a community of 290,000 bands, both signed and unsigned.
