The nightmare of doing "1 minute!" with the live acts, is totally impossible, therefore, I have to swing back to a non-live music arena.
Can you imagine the complications of all the acts playing this one minute stuff live? (a revolving stage with four seperate pa systems)
I am very pleased you like the idea, I am having a new hard drive delivered tomorrow, with a back up drive, to master it all, these computers are too small.
Three tracks on the album, would not work live at this time, so I suppose I have a blend, of both genres in this debate.
I intend to do the garden today, but as soon as tracks come in, I start re-mixing!
Great live showcase down here tonight, if anyone wants tickets, get in touch.
"Fitzpain" will be signed I am sure by somebody, and there is my tip for the day!

Wow ! Thanks to all for responding to this thread, many interesting answers here which i am pleased about. For my 2 pennys i think that live gigs has a new importance in the internet age and i think that for those who can, it should be a moment to savour and treat your fans. The internet with its cheap marketing and of course digital single is not affordable for everyone and i think that artists should spend as much time as possible developing their writing skills and of course studio skills so that when they have something special they can release it online, generate an online fanbase and then treat their fans to a serious of gigs. Some intimate some big, some dj focused and others in a more traditional way. No longer should bands have to put up with playing to empty seats, there just isnt any point. [url]

Another footnote on this topic... 18 Years ago
Last night, in the biggest affordable venue down here, our lads band were on.(live)
We turned up fashionably late, to avoid embarrasement of a large empty venue.
I could not believe my eyes.
The line of teenagers to see the show, went clear around the corner.
Despite the 5k p.a. system, at one point you could not hear the band for screams, total ticket sales were between 500-700,(not been counted yet),and so this needs to be chucked into the forum.
The kids want live music still, so there IS a point in playing live.
Some hastily made cd demos were made, and there are none left.
And this is a Wednesday night in Dorset!
Friday nights gig for the guys, only holds 100 people, we anticipate problems with this, but it is a joyous problem.
I am still stunned as you can tell.

the best way for a band to see how good a song is, is to play it live , if you play the song well and no matter how unintrested the audience is if for that three minuites or so if you get the audiences attention youre on to a winner. how many times have you been to see a band and they have blown you away and gone and bought the record and has sounded dull and flat its because of that second of magic factor which you do not always catch in the studio, i remember going to see elvis costello at the royal court in liverpool not long after the hillsborough tragedy and see him perform a song song that day is done and there was not a dry eye in the house it is called emotion and feeling and is not always captured by clicking on myspace.

And vice versa Garno, I have seen some great live bands whose demoes are unusable.
The dilemna is allways, should I give them studio time or not.
It has to be the whole painting in the acts mind and not just the sketch.
