Take That 18 Years ago
Well I was hoping for some a grade POP here. Instead I witnessed an embarrassing attempt to deny their past, the worst frontman of a successful group I've ever seen and all round karoake rubbish.
A Beatles medley that went on far too long and was a disgrace. A cringey Robbie bit where he guested on screen in a prerecorded bit that made my toes curl.
Mark, jason and howard all looked like they'd rather be somewhere else whereas Barlow looked delighted at all the revenue he was collecting.
The best songs...good news for the Gibb brothers, Barry Manilow, Lennon McCartney, Dan Hartman and whoever wrote that Tavares song. I honestly thought this gig would be good - the audience were well up for it. But it was a horrid reminder of when pop started to fall into the hands of the marketing people. Be interested to hear what anyone else thought...

don't worry, they'll all be cokeheads soon as they've got D******d J**n as one of their roadies.just talk to black crows, the manics or Richard Ashcroft as to why they sacked him (or rather why the management did)...

interesting comments there that rang a few sad bells for me. I once discovered a new young band and when they signed we were given a tour manager who quite openly bragged about his coke intake and made me feel very uncomfortable. I wasn't experienced enough to take action or to tell the band or their parents how I felt.(well, I was scared really and lacked the confidence to take on the major we'd signed to who recommended him to us). Eventually the band imploded after a couple of hits. I'm not blaming it all on that by any means but the myth of drugs + creativity is a hard thing to cope with and young bands are very susceptible to it. This was a decade ago, britpop days... nothing to do with current tabloid "sensations".

Tell you what Fred...... 18 Years ago
..I was allways so excited, coming through the late 70`s, to see what my generation did to music, when we "came into power" as it were.
I think Robbie is great, as he is a natural rebel, Guy Chambers is great, as you can tell his grounding and talent, but the whole boy band thing
