anyone remember charles and eddie? 18 Years ago  
isn't the vocal style very similar to gnarls barkley?
could they be related?
would i lie to you?

One of the best bass lines ever.
It`s a cracker, the guy appears to be busking it at first, but he is most definetly not.
He could have taken the easy route, but really made the song with creative playing.
I have taught this one on many occasions, and nobody has got it right.
Not too sure about the Gnarls comparison though, although I seem to remember Charles and Eddie were dj`s who met on a train, the Gnarls could well have been dj`s as well.

They turned down "If There's Any Justice In The World" as the follow up in order to release their own song, disastrous. What a find for Lemar though, really boosted his career.

Funnily enough I hate that Any Justice Lemar song; it's such a steal from Walk On By... "If you see me walking down the street..."

And the vocal style of Charles & Eddie owes a lot to Aaron Neville.

I met C&E once and spent a few drunken minutes complimenting them on "Would I Lie to You". Only realised it was written by someone else later.
