A big weekend celebration of bad sound balance... starting with Sugababes... doing Arctics... doesn't work at all... fun idea until you realise they are totally different bands appealing to totally different fan bases. Sound dreadful - vocals far too low in the mix but I've heard the actual track and that's crap too.
Snow Patrol... bad sound again (it is the stupid music festival) but I have to say I don't see it... or hear it.
Next Big Weekend act... The Editors... I quite like this song of theirs but the sound was again appalling... haven't TV sound people learned yet how to do it?
The good thing about this Live Performance TOTP is that we can all see how badly groups are at performing...
Dirty Ordinary Libs... I really don't hear much special in Bang Bang.
By now I've got used to the dreadful balance and quite like them burying the lead vocal.
Corinne Bailey Rae does her average song quite well if you like young talent being shoe horned into a cabaret performer from the 50's category.
I don't unless they sound right for it, like Peter Grant.
She looks and sounds like a librarian being given a chance at the school prom.
Primal Scream look and sound like the meths drinking groundsmen whose jobs were given through charity being asked to show the young whipper snappers how we used to rock in the old days.
I like Pink. I think she has class and is clever, bright and witty as well as looking and sounding good but even she is a bit wooden when restricted by the confines of stage and lighting and naff sound (though the sound is far better for her than for the preceding acts).
Best of show.
Gnarls live is not a wise thing. Gnarls is a studio band. End of review.

I agree and disagree about Gnarls..

It`s obviously a very heavy studio single, and it is very difficult to see how many of the minions on stage were actually doing anything except make up numbers, and also, how much of the backing was running off tracks anyway.
That all said, the young audience I watched it with, liked the live feel, one quote was ."My god He can actually sing!".
Corrine Baily Rae , I`m sure she is a lovely girl, but I couldn`t stand it at all.
I didn`t really like the format of the show, although I should as I`m a live music hound, lets face it, it wasn`t Glastonbury.

It`s not one liner`s Librarian, nobody looks at the blog on this site and expects a "lord of the rings" size review!
It`s allways first come , first read ,on TOTP, review, and as as it`s JK`s site , he has perogative.
"I didn`t like it and I want my Mum!"
There`s my one liner!
