Daniel and Chris - very talented lads... check out What I Came For... sounds like a hit to me.
Wonder which major will play the Orson game and pick them up from here.

When they do I hope they remember to check with us about followups... unlike Orson (stranded at 11).

I do love the Dastards.. 17 Years, 12 Months ago
..but that is not my favourite track of theirs.
I think they will be a happening event very soon, they have what can only be called the "Factor"(I hate the X word!)
More tipsters required, we have at least three possible hit acts on this site.

Unusual sounding vocal. Summer vibe. Nice.

Yes it's Daniel's strange helium vocal I like... 17 Years, 11 Months ago
always have done; you don't normally get passion from that high pitched a vocal without it going into falsetto.
Very unusual.

Checked it out. You obviously still have a talent for spotting talent. I hope for them that a label has as much sense and signs them up to release it and some of the other stuff on the EP on their website.

I tipped them to Record of the Day a few months ago and never heard back.......

In fact out of all the bands I have sent to them for consideration they have only ever put one up ( The Tacticians ) and not done the others - most of which have been signed to majors !

The Dastards are fantastic and I agree with your tip.

Not my cup of tea 17 Years, 11 Months ago
I'm sure it's a Blink 182 influence in this track, 'somethings coming over' phrasing is a perfect match of the 'guess I'm going under' phrasing. Is it Blink or an early Green Day? Having listened to all the myspace tracks, 'What I came for' is the strongest.

My opinion - just M.O.R. great for R2 but there's enough of it about at the moment. It doesn't excite me like Keane or The Magic Numbers - that's my yardstick.

Yes - Nathan came to a Dastards gig in Birmingham. We met up and he askled if he could re-mix the track. We think it sounds great - sort of indie/dance hybrid ...

And it was nice to meet you Nathan!

Thanks for the kind words, all.

I can't imagine what a "Tipsheet Nathan Jay re-mix project" would entail...

Thanks for responding. I do understand that you get far too many to ever really be able to do them all justice.

Maybe a weekly RotWeek - featuring 12 tips by your subscribers / readers would be another way of getting more new music out - and that would give the weekend a real good chance to listen to 12 new bands who maybe are bubbling under the RotD tip from yourselves.

Like most people posting on here we just cant get enough new music especially when it has been filtered through industry specialists such as RotD and Tipsheet and Hitsheet. It is easier than surfing My Space for a few days:cheer:

Nathan, taking over where Normak Cook has left off. Very nice work Nathan, the quality is far better than anything else you've ever put up on TS, nice one.

True - but as it's back ... here's a clip of the Dastards frontman Daniel (or Wake as he's now known) at the BBC (invited with an hour's notice earlier this year - note the crumpled set list in front of him ... scrawled in the car as we raced through the traffic ...) singing the Dastards song 'Trouble' unplugged, unaccompanied and live with one mic.

(And yes - we don't like that hat - but it's beginning to be one of his trademarks..)

Re: Label-wise they're on Stretch... 17 Years, 8 Months ago
...are they talking about signing to a bigger label, or licensing?

I think they have quite a bit of experience at home.
