Actually "Village Of the Damned" was "The Midwich Cuckoos"...and "The Chrysalids" was "ReBirth" - "Village Of the Damned" is the one with the kids all born in a mysterious way as women in a small English town are impregnated while unconscious. Kids have weird eyes, all blonde, all think the same thing at the same time...and no they're not poisoned...they are
blown up by a bomb while George Sands in "thinking of a brick wall..."to stop them from figuring out what is about to happen. What a GREAT film.
Anyway, I'm still not sure what "Kraken Wakes" was/is
and I cannot find my copy.
Thanks for answering.

In brief "Kraken", is a sea monster movie.
I used to love the eerie black and white filming of Wyndhams work, that said, they could have been in colour, I just may not have had a colour tv at the time.
When I was away at school in the seventies, they let us all stay up late, one Saturday, to watch "The Day Of the Triffids".A lot of kids had genuine nightmares, and we had to have a special talk from the headmaster the next day, to explain to the terrified school that the monsters were not real etc!
