TOPIC: That belated TOTP review

That belated TOTP review 17 Years, 9 Months ago
TOTP, two days late with a T In The Park edition, opening with Arctic Monkeys live doing Dancefloor - not as good as the studio track but not bad at all (I like the Monks)... then Goldfrapp who I'm not mental for on CD offering nothing live whatsoever... don't you just hate acts whose entire purpose is as a recording unit who just stand there and do it?... then Kaiser Chiefs whose lead singer looks like an older spottier version of Simon Le Bon doing Riot, one of the best hits of this decade, rather badly... bored I expect poor souls... these live "get the crowd to singalong" work fine at the gig but not at all as TV... the usual " rain not dampened spirits" cliches... then horrid mean mouthed Paul Weller did the divine Town Called Malice badly as only a middle aged man doing a Jam hit can... well at least he wasn't Pursey from Hersham... just the wanker from Woking... Franz Ferdinand took me out... God I hate these live concert TV shows - the sound is always bad and it all looks the same; lots of sweat and notes not quite true... Corinne Bailey Rae in a tent having trouble sleeping was rather good in that flat soulful mournful voice that comes along like Macy every few years.... then The Who do I hope I die before I get old... with no irony at all... the world is passing me by... I don't understand anything any more.... very confusing... Roger was OK but Pete was seriously disturbing, like a serial killer... of guitars, of course... then show ends with Lily Allen introducing, with great lack of flair, her dreary video for her ordinary single which I can't see selling a copy anywhere else in the world. Thank God for the majors who can spend all the profits that they are not making in the knowledge that nobody will notice until a year has passed...
