New tracks from the album - What do you think? 17 Years, 9 Months ago
Muso's, A&R, industry bod's and others of this forum.

Just finished my album and I'm looking for feedback on some of the material. Please have a listen and let me know what you think. Similar to Ryan Adams, Damien Rice, David Gray etc.

Also any advice on distribution as an independent label?

Look forward to your comments. Thanks for your time and best regards,

Dan

2 New tracks for your perusal "And I'm Fading Away" and "When I Want To Be With You".

The album is finished and I'm looking at self distribution. Any advice?

Thanks for your time.

MySpace is now up.... 17 Years, 9 Months ago
I had problems with MySpace earlier. All four tracks are now working. Tracks 2 and 4 are the new ones for your perusal.

Thanks for your time and let me know what you think.

For self distro you probably want to buy a van or create a new download site... depends what you meant. Please elaborate.

Self Distribution 17 Years, 9 Months ago
Basically starting my own label / publishing company and getting the material out there that way, (Doing what a record label does but independent with smaller releases). Obviously havn't got the money of a major, but I want to help myself find the niche in the market, and self promotion / distribution looks the best way to do it.

Thanks for your time and help in advance.

The best way to get heard currently and judge the need for pressing lots of cd`s up later.
The problem with the Myspace thing, is if people do not like the tracks, I believe you can lose more than you can gain. As Kev said, get a website, use previews, and try and get some money back on people downloading the full product. I use Myspace, but I deliberately put no music on it. One of the problems with Myspace, is that you can lose all your mystery as an artist in an instant.
The only problem with your very , indeed generally good material, is that Myspace is very chocked up with it, and it can be difficult to get noticed. I counted up my mate Jinders plays on his, and it was 10,000+, he may well transfer this into sales as he plays up and down the country up to 5 days a week, but what I am trying to say Dan, is also be seen and heard as much possible out there. The following for your style normally comes in this way.

Before setting out with any kind of label, before spending money on a release, I think you need to do market research first. See if there really is a niche for your music. Might be an idea to find groups of people who like similar artists and see what they think of your music, try posting on a forum for the artists the way you've done here.

Cheers, Kev. I've done that already on Ryan Adams / Damien Rice / James Blunt / David Gray and I've had back very positice feedback from these fanbases. Just need to get over the biggest hurdle which is getting it heard / promoted in the right places.
