Sad news; Mike Ashwell RIP 11 Years, 8 Months ago
Mike (a frequent poster as MickyOne) died yesterday.

He was a very old friend (and one of my Editors on 65 My Life So Far)... in the 60s he ran One Stop Records in South Moulton Street, importing all the best and rarest tracks from the USA and beyond. As a result, he became a friend of many of us 60s popsters.

Anyone with connections to Chris Blackwell, Jim Beech, Ian Ralfini and similar music people, who may not be aware, please inform them.

Mike and I had regular weekly Saturday morning breakfasts in Marylebone over the past ten years. I shall miss them and him.

Sad indeed. An intelligent contributor here.

Have we also lost Veritas?

Hello,
I wanted to thank you for posting the sad news of Mike''s passing,8 years ago. I was idly thinking,'I wonder what Mike got up to'as I last had contact in 1979. So I tried Google and found your tribute. I was a newly arrived young Aussie when I got a job with Non-Stop records in Marylebone in 1975. I always had a good relationship with Mike & his style of business was something I carried forward for 25 years in my own music export company.

Thanks again, and as you said (8 years ago) R.I.P. a good friend.

I'm reliably informed, Michael, that Mike still reads this Forum up there in One Stop Heaven, where, he tells me, harp music is big with the angels. Outdoor festivals don't do well; people fall through the clouds and it takes huge efforts lifting them back up again, often requiring compulsory playing of my own tracks.
