TOPIC: The Winslow Boy

The Winslow Boy 5 Years, 6 Months ago
Wonderful Talking Pictures TV (my main channel these days) showed this fantastic if dated 1948 film with Robert Donat giving a fantastic performance and Margaret Leighton (hugely under rated actress like wonderful Wendy Hiller, a similar looking star) magnificent as always. This film is not just a superb snap of days gone by but well written and beautifully acted.

LET RIGHT BE DONE! Rather a good slogan; as apt today as almost 100 years ago.

I thought you might be watching this.
Always a favourite of mine.(though not keen on Emma Thompson)

As a matter of interest - when did the opposition and government change seating sides in the Commons or did the film get it wrong?

What a gem of a movie; best I've seen in ages. Great ending. It is very easy to do justice and very hard to do right! Fantastic.

Was Emma in the remake? She's brilliant in The Children Act.

Yes, with Gordon Jackson. She is good in everything, but I wasn't keen on the remake.
Gwen Watford was in both versions, as Grace and Catherine.
