Peter Tatchell is an opportunist who I say is the LGBT communities worst friend.

He's now attacking Venezuala and the Maduro government..or "regime" as he outrageously calls it. Maduro is the lawfully elected President.

Just as the US bat-shit crazy war-monger with the blood of 1000s on his hands, John Bolton who calls Maduro a "dictator" and his puppet, the would be unelected CIA assert Juan Guaidó the real (but self appointed) Venezuelan president.

There is much that is wrong with Maduro but trying to ignore the fact US sanctions that have deprived Venezuala of around $130Billion of their oil revenue...sanctions that the Nuremberg Trials concluded were War Crimes that saw several Nazis executed for, is madness.

Tatchell displays a shockingly thin knowledge of Venezuela.

Homosexuality has never been illegal in Venezuala. There are no laws forbidding any same sex, sex.

However there is no same sex marriage or rights. But these rights took decades and decades to be achieved in the USA, UK, EU etc (without Tatchel's aid) and were only just enshrined in Australia where Tatchell is from, last year. Not a bloody peep out of Tatchell during that fight fortunately as the right's advocates would have run rings around him.

Tatchel attacks Maduro as though it's all his fault.

He completely ignores the very real Latin Machismo that runs deep in all of South America and has for 100s of years.

An example is in Cuba where for decades Fidel Castro said he had no problems with the LGBT community but, the problem was most of his compatriots did because of this "machismo"..and of course most of the world deludes themselves into thinking Castro ran Cuba on his own.
(despite that, Cuba always had a lively underground gay scene which has now burst into the open)

Peter Tatchell refused outright to support Harvey Proctor when the false accusations about him were based on his unfortunate past conviction for an act now not illegal.

Tatchell claimed it was because of Proctor's "right-wing" political views even though he hadn't been in politics for 20 years.

Peter Tatchell attacked the Royal Family and urged others to go after then when the gutter Sun newspaper claimed they made Nazi salutes (and implied they were supporters) when old photos of them were uncovered with the family hamming around int he garden.

Tatchell supported The Sun newspaper..a newspaper that has been an enemy of the LGBT community for decades and basically conflated "gay" with "pedophilia". No other newspaper ran the tawdry claims because the pics were from the early 30s and in a seemingly playful time in the garden.
Tatchell justified his attacks because he claimed it showed the Royals were Nazi supporters. History says otherwise.
