TOPIC: BCR Les McKeown RIP
#208193
Re:BCR Les McKeown RIP 3 Years ago
Nearly all the B sides of my productions were written and published by me and were often sung by me too. Both this and Jenny (my two BCR B sides) were rerecorded after they really broke, appear on several albums and I have been paid for them!

Just admit it JK. Bay City Rollers was just another one of your alias.

Agreed. It sounds very very similar.

Sounds like a tuneless Bay City Rollers b-side.

Pretty much of the B sides of the era. I didn't buy singles only albums.

Yes I only knew him briefly (Nobby was lead singer for my hit). Rather a large chip on his shoulder I always felt.

It seems he was at loggerheads with them even after the court case. However he could certainly reform BCR with some members for a final BCR tour.

Fans will still go if band is made up from the original or classic line up. However this is not BCR and Woody should not be using the name.

Well its more BCR than a group without even one of them in it, and they are fast running out of options.
As long as the adverts make it very clear that there is only Woody, it looks like good fun.

This would be my line up BCR if they were to do one last tour.
Nobby Clark
Woody
Eric
Pat
Derek
Alan Dunn

Bearing in mind the main lead singer, Les, could only sell very small theatres, such as Horsham capitol for his "Legendary Bay City Rollers tour". This lot could barely sell out a church hall.

Not to mention Eric and Derek weren't prepared to go on the money spinning tour of 2015, they are not likely to sign up to perform with Nobby Clark, who nowone remembers as singer of that one single. As for Pat McGlynn, the singles had dried up by that time. Without Les and Alan, sadly there can be no Bay City Rollers.

Most bands on tour from 1970s and 1980s play in town theatres, which have sold out or near enough full. People will attend for the nostalgia and just have a night out.

Not everyone one is negative like you Robbie I bet you're a joy a parties...not.

KISS still sell out arenas and theatres despite a lot lineup changes, Paul Stanley vocals are not the same but the fans don't care. They go to have a fun hence why KISS call the concerts Parties. I have seen KISS live over the years and still waiting to be disappointed.

OUCH! What the hell is this? I want to slap that woman that keeps butting in.

But well done whoever turned it into the brilliant song it ended up as.

Yes in those days many producers recycled - we picked up The Bump by Kenny and failed to break it in America (as Bill constantly reminded me for the rest of his life!).

I'm not negative, just realistic and want value for money. When I saw bcr in 2015, they had 3 original members, but were supported by the Sweet, who I think only had one original member (Steve Priest I think), but they had no credibility. At least "From the Jam", who had 2 original members didn't claim to be the Jam. My point is that this line-up, which is highly unlikely to happen wouldn't have much currency. Derek is happy been a nurse and Eric has been estranged for years.

I agree with Robbie about value for money. I would be very happy to see "Rollers" with only one or two members as long as I wasn't paying Bay City Roller prices.

I loathe the impersonation bands with a passion, but I enjoy things like "So and so sings Dylan" as long as he does it in his own way and doesn't try to look or sound like Dylan.

I’m with you on this Honey. I be more than happy to spend about £18 to £23 or so if they did a sort of a reunion tour in memory of Les, Alan and Ian.

Mike and Bruce from the Beach Boys tour using the Beach Boys moniker; Bruce wasn’t even an original member and the best Beach Boys songs were actually sung by Carl. Yet I went to one of these “Beach Boys” gigs a few years ago and bloody enjoyed it, it was about £44 with fees for front row tickets and was well worth it in my opinion.

Has a nice Summer vibe to it, also Nobby and Les have a very similar voices.

I forgotten how good they were Honey. I must deep deeper in their back catalogue before "Rollermaina".

Hopefully Cherry Red might be able to release everything they recorded in a complete box set.
