Mark, you didn't catch Savile everything came out after he died - you can't arrest a dead man.

2:20 "There is an advantage of being an investigator... Some people do not like talking to the police. And therefore sometimes people will tell me things that they wouldn't tell the police."

2:53 "I use little tricks that perhaps I couldn't get away with in the police service. There are things that I do that would be not criminal but certainly wouldn't be ethical. I'm always on the right side of the law but very close to it."

I wonder if these two points are at the core of the Jimmy Savile allegations, and allegations that MWT has been involved in against other people too.

It certainly seems to be, Honey. I'm astounded that he's been bugging people. I'd have thought that was against the law. I wonder if he's doing things for the police that they wouldn't get away with (which I suspect he did with that tweet releasing Rolf Harris's name to the world in the face of the Leveson's report's advice on not releasing names and months before Rolf Harris was charged).

I cannot comprehend how he got away with that.

It puzzles me even now.

The police were terrible on Yewtree. Sent Freddie Starr to an early grave, Jim Davidson almost had a career ruined and JK was harassed.

I suspect it was because the police condoned the tweet or had even instructed him to get the name out that way. He must have had good contacts with Operation Yewtree if he was able to tweet what they were doing as they were doing it ("Breaking : Rolf Harris currently being interviewed under caution at police station as part of #Savile other #sexual offences"). If he had done it completely off his own bat and the police had been concerned that the tweet might pull in false accusers by hinting that Rolf Harris could be accused of Savile-style sexual offences they could surely have had it deleted.
