A frightening story and editorial in The Times today. They are cheering the fact that after four years they have been allowed to print the story that an innocent man was once accused of sex abuse. They do, admittedly, carry the fact that his accuser failed to identify him in a video lineup - some thing most people would find unusual for someone raped again and again over a period of years by somebody. Yet they announce with pride - this is a marvellous result for them. I'm sorry, Lord Murdoch, but I think these days the majority of the thinking public believes the presumption of innocence has long been replaced by the presumption of guilt, largely due to the media.
