TOPIC: Pure Hell.

Pure Hell. 4 Years, 7 Months ago
Just suffered in Hell; Satan visited and advised me that, after 57 years, I should get new carpets laid. Easier said than done. My house is so cluttered it took dozens of officers from Surrey Police three days to go through everything (and find nothing - nothing to find) four years ago. James (mainly) and I had to move everything so they could lay my admittedly gorgeous new carpets. Up the stairs, in the bathrooms, on landings, everywhere except kitchen. You think Brexit is a problem? Try moving 57 years worth of clutter around to allow three carpet layers, who were fantastic - thank you Peter Jones - to put my beautiful new royal blue down. Boris has got it easy compared to me. I'm exhausted (as is James).

The bathroom? Please dont let anyone with a penis and a liking for wine anywhere near it. (I speak from experience)

Many hoarders hope that, when they die, the sum total of the things they leave - will suggest a broader life to that which they have had.

I decluttered recently (an enormous task, with hundreds of journeys to charity shops, and recycling depots) - and feel freer, lighter, brighter and less burdened.

As well as being able to quickly lay my hands on the things I need - instead of having to have several boring and time consuming rummaging/retrieval sessions every week.

Don't worry Honey nobody is allowed to use the Upstairs bathroom but me and I have VERY good aim. The downstairs toilet is so small nobody could miss the spot!

I was(!) a lazy hoarder

The 'maybe someday I might need that' philosophy is rubbish

But JK, I haven't heard ever

...of having the same carpets for 57 years

Except in stately houses

Or Homes for the Bewildered

I fit in the second category. And sadly they no longer make the deep pile carpets I love which was why I just kept mine.

If it is a decent thick carpet that doesn't hold the dirt it should last even longer.

I am a rug hoarder. I have actually got giant shagpile rugs stored away, for a fantasy time in the future when my pets are less revolting.
